Engagement Shoot: Noel + Anthony
On an perfectly overcast afternoon in late July native New Yorkers Noel & Anthony began their two part engagement shoot. I met Noel and Anthony at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens and we then made our way into Manhattan to Pier 84 where Noel and Anthony became engaged. Pier 84 overlooks the Intrepid Air and Space Museum and provided a really cool backdrop for their engagement and engagement photos. We were very lucky the rain held off for our scheduled shoot and the clouds gave us great even light everywhere we went.
I started shooting Noel and Anthony in a quieter section of the garden to warm them up. I quickly realized that with a little light instruction these two would be naturals in no time. The joy, love, happiness between N+A was evident every time they looked at one another and this made the photos that much more effortless. As we made our way to more populated areas these two kept up their camera ready confidence and energy which provided amazing material.
All of these photos I captured using the 50mm f/1.8 Canon lens. I loved using this lens so much I didn’t even use my 24-70 Canon lens that I had on hand. Normally for portraits I usually also carry 85mm but I decided to try out the 50mm, and I was so happy I did. The 50mm gave me just a little more space around the subjects but with the same precision and softness.
Big thanks to Noel & Anthony!
