Studio Still Life with Direct & Indirect Light

I’ve been taking a stab at studio/product/still life photography this Summer. To create these images I am using a dark backdrop with slate slabs from Home Depot for the surface. For the light source I am using direct light from a window as well as indirect light depending if I decide to use the sunlight or not. I wanted to use the dark background and surface so that the objects/ subject matter are the focus and the darkness adds drama. Below I’ve highlighted the differences from using the direct sunlight vs. the indirect and the different look it creates. I liked the idea of creating a monochrome color palette and chose to start off with yellows. Next up pinks!
